Patchagonia
“I became obsessed by Patagonia. A vast land, desolated and windy. Where the wind assures you that you are in a specific place and could not be anywhere else. It’s a particular sensation. It forces you to go inside of yourself. If you are there you have to love the wind, know it and accept it.”
– Lisi
Patchagonia. Ultimate landscape. At the end of the world. If you live or arrive here, you have fled from elsewhere. You have nothing to loose. You are looking for impossible things. Or you are without illusions. You are a wanderer. Or you are stuck.
For Patchagonia – the first full evening production of Lisi Estaras – she assembled a team of highly talented collaborators most of whom worked on other les ballets C de la B productions.
One of them is the musician Tcha Limberger whom Lisi Estaras met during the creation of V.S.P.R.S. (Alain Platel/Fabrizio Cassol). It was then that Lisi Estaras discovered Tcha’s interest in and knowledge of South-American rhythms. His compositions for Patchagonia are based on folkloric dances and rhythms from the North of Argentina, specifically on Chacarera and Malambo rhythms. He mixes them with his particular ‘gypsy’ style, which results in a strong earthly athmosphere and a feeling of happiness.
